5 “Musts” for Resumes that Get Attention: #1

The following is an article series that previously appeared on my resume site.
Hope you enjoy it!

Since your resume can be rejected by a potential employer in just 30 seconds (or less), there are 5 “Musts” for making sure your resume gets attention and lands in the ‘Must Interview’ pile.

Here’s Must #1:

Organization

Be sure your resume is well organized. Two common styles include chronological and skill-based resumes.

In the chronological resume, your work history and experience is presented from your most current position through those you’ve held in the past. This provides the reviewer with a quick glance of your most recent career highlights and also allows for a very organized interview.

If your work history is a bit scattered with gaps between employment, or you are looking to change careers, a skill-based resume may be an option for you. A skill-based resume highlights your skills and experience. These highlights should be directly related to the job for which you are applying.
