Opening Day: Wonderland Express 2008

It was opening day today for Wonderland Express, the miniature train and Chicago city landmark replica exhibit at the Chicago Botanic Garden. We were there when the doors opened at 10 am.

The exhibit runs from November 28, 2008 through January 4, 2009. If you’re able to attend, not only will you see trains and landmark replicas, but be prepared for “snow” and for fun activities for children. It’s a great exhibit.

The Empowering of Women

TED is an annual conference that brings together the minds, passions and convictions of those in Technology, Entertainment and Design (TED)…and beyond. The speakers are amazing, and their presentations are available for all to view at TED.com. The speakers are given only about 18 minutes to speak, which makes it easy to fit an entire presentation within a busy schedule.

I cannot recommend this site strongly enough.

My most recent viewing was of novelist Isabel Allende: Tales of Passion. In this presentation at TED, Allende gives a very inspiring, moving and entertaining look at what can happen to villages, countries and the world when women are empowered. Within her talk, she highlights three women who have overcome great hurdles, and have made huge impacts on the world. You won’t want to miss it.

The body of a tea describes how it feels in the mouth, light/thin to heavy/thick.

General Overview
Light body: Green teas and Green Chai tea
Medium body: Darjeeling, Earl Grey, English Breakfast, Flavored Black teas, Formosa Oolong, most Herb and Fruit blends, Rooibos red tea, and Black Chai tea
Full body: Assam estate teas and Irish Breakfast
