A Life Worth Living, Is One That Is Shared…

I haven’t written anything about LOST since the Season Finale. But, a friend who enjoys catching up after the episodes suggested I post more of my thoughts and musings. So, here we go…

Regarding the previous episode “316″…

Let’s start with Desmond.
He walked out on the group as they were planning their return to the island. Now, of course, he could not have returned with them on the flight anyway. Remember, Desmond ended up on the island by sailboat. Since circumstances needed to be as close to the original circumstances that took them to the island in the first place, Desmond could not have returned by plane.

Unfortunately, how does he, Penny and Charlie travel…that’s right: by sailboat. Although there seems to be a need to track the movement of the island in order to increase the probability of catching up with it, what do you think the odds are that Desmond’s sailboat and the island will cross paths again? Pretty high, I think.

Two things really bothered me about this episode. One involves Desmond. He shows up to talk with Faraday’s mother, only to find out she is the same woman he met at the jewelry store when he was buying an engagement ring for Penny. At that time, Ms. Hawking told Desmond of his destiny and his inability to change fate.

So, Desmond walks in, sees this woman, and has no reaction at all. Not even a, “Hey, it’s you.” That just didn’t fit for me.

Another thing that didn’t fit for me involved Ben. He arrives at the plane, obviously beaten, and with his arm in a sling. No one even mentions it. No, “What happened to you?”

More about Ben…When Ben turned the wheel of the island, he knew he could never return. Or, at least that’s what he told John Locke. So, why did he think being on the plane would return him to the island? Just wishful thinking?

Where is Aaron? It would be a compassionate move to return Aaron to Claire’s mother. Maybe a bit too easy a move for this show, and Aaron’s safety could be an issue as well. Could Kate have left Aaron with her mother? She was dying the last we saw of her, though. And, for Kate to be so committed to her mother never seeing Aaron, and again, Aaron’s safety, not the best choice either. I have to keep thinking on this one.

For someone not allowed to leave the state of California, Kate seemed to be able to board her Ajira flight without incident…

Locke, dead? Well, we know Jack’s father was dead on Oceanic flight 815, yet he keeps appearing. Locke is returning in the same manner as Jack’s dad. We’ll be seeing Locke again.

Ajira Airways: The logo on the water bottle found in the boat that Sawyer, Juliet, etc. took from the beach after one of their time jumps. The plane crashed, but Kate, Jack and Hurley (Sun and Syed most likely, too) made the time jump (flash of light) rather than ending up in the crash. They are now in the same “time” as the rest of their friends that were left behind on the island.

We know the island moves, but when everyone was on the island, they couldn’t tell. Nor, were they noticeably affected. My thought was that the island would stop the rapid, noticeable time jumps after Locke turned the crank in the cave. We’ll see.
